Step 4. Now you have to remove the marked areas. You can do this with a variety of tools: the easiest is with a bench grinder or Dremel tool, as shown in the photos, but you could use a sharp razor blade (also shown) or even a serrated steak knife. Grind/cut the marked areas away until they're even with the flat area of the boot. |

| Step 4 Note: Work slowly and only remove as much material as necessary- stop often and hold the plates up to the boot to check your progress. Be very careful if you're using a bench grinder or Dremel tool- they are dangerous if not handled properly. Remember your eye protection! Trust us, nothing hurts more than a shard of hot plastic flying into your eye! Step 5: Once you have all the marked areas flattened out and the plates sit flat on the boot, you're ready to put everything back together. Place the plates on the boots in their corresponding positions and loosely screw the small soulplate screws in with a 3mm hex wrench. Don't tighten them all the way; you'll do that in a couple steps. Step 6: Now place the spacer plates in between the plates and make sure they fit between the boot ridges. You may have to tap them in, as they're supposed to be a tight fit. These support the middle of your frames to prevent flexing and breakage. Step 7: Now place your frames in the frame channel and tighten them down with a 4mm hex wrench. | |

| Step 7 Note: Our plates are 100% UFS-compliant, as are Fiziks, Able, Fifty50 Balance and the newer Salomon frames, but you will have to trim the frame channel a bit to fit these frames in our plates. This is because the UFS standard doesn't specify a maximum depth for the frame channel. You can use the sharp razor blade, bench grinder, or Dremel tool you used earlier to trim out the frame channel so your frames fit flat against the bottom of the channel and spacer plate. Step 8: Now tighten down the small soulplate screws with a 3mm hex wrench. You're done! Your boots are now completely set up for the Night soul system, meaning that from now on you can just buy plates and screw them right on. Remember, our soul system is rotatable- if you wear the soul on one skate out first, just swap the plates with the plates from your other skate. Thanks for purchasing our plates and being patient enough to install them, you will notice a big difference in your skates' performance and durability. Skating a semi-rough ledge first is recommended to break the plates in. Now put away your dad's tools and go enjoy your new souls! |
