| Thanks for purchasing our Salomon Soul System. This kit will give you
a durable, smooth, rotatable all-UHMW soul system that will outlast the
stock soul plates many times over. This system is intended for rollers who
dislike the way Widebodies ride, but are sick of quickly killing the stock
plates, who prefer the stock backslide area but need a bigger, more durable
soul, or for those who want an improved negative area. We wanted to provide
a system that's more durable than the stock souls, with a slightly larger
soul and negative, without the excess bulk found in the Widebodies. We've
left the backslide area alone for those who prefer the stock groove, but
you can find instructions for mounting classic Razors backslides on our
website- they provide a nice medium between the stock and Widebody backslide
areas. Unfortunately, in order to make the soul system rotatable between
skates, we had to use a design that requires some modifications to the bottom
of your boots in order to mount up. This instruction sheet shows you the
basic installation procedure- if you're confused or unclear on anything,
head to our website for even more in-depth photos and instructions. If you're
still stumped or just have a general hardware question, email tech@nighthardware.com.
Remember that when working with hand and power tools, safety comes first.
If you're not familiar or comfortable doing what's outlined here, get a
qualified adult or your local skateshop to do the installation for you.
Wear safety glasses at all times and allow yourself an adequate amount of
time- don't try to make these modifications and install our plates half
an hour before you're leaving to go skate! You'll just get frustrated and
might mess up your skates; it sounds corny, but the cliché "measure twice,
cut once" definitely applies. Step 1. Using 3mm & 4mm hex wrenches, remove
the frames and stock souls from your boots. Save the mounting screws from
the souls, you'll need these later. Step 1 Note: You'll probably notice
here that our plates don't fit into the flat area in the middle of the boot
that the stock plates do. This is because our plates are sym- metrical,
unlike the stock plates- this is what allows the Night system to be rotated
from skate to skate. So to get our plates on the boots, you have to trim
away parts of the "ridges" sticking out from the bottom of the boot. Step
2. Set a plate, in its corresponding position, on a boot. Make sure the
frame t- nut and mounting t-nuts line up and firmly hold it in place. Now
use a pen to mark the areasof the boot ridges that you'll have to trim off
to get the plates to sit flat. (In the photos, these areas have been marked
with white paint) Step 2 Note: The "right" and "left" plates don't correspond
with the right and left skates-there is one "right" AND one "left" plate
on each skate, regardless of which foot it goes on. The "right" and"left"
refer to which side of the h-block the plate is on when you look at the
bottom of the skate with the soul upwards. |
